Work

I'm Publishing Director, Nature.com at Nature Publishing Group in London. This makes me somewhat responsible for Nature.com, naturejobs.com, nature-events.com, Nature Methods and Nature Protocols, as well as Connotea and other social software projects, podcasts, and our various database initiatives.

Blogs

I contribute to Nascent (Nature's Web Publishing blog) and very occasionally to You're It! (a group blog on tagging).

Events

I am co-organiser of Science Foo Camp, a collaboration between Google, O'Reilly and Nature.

Background

I was trained as a neurophysiologist and biochemist. I also spent a couple of years working as a management consultant. I lived in Japan for five years (off and on) and joined Nature's Tokyo office in 1998. I moved to London, where I'm now based, in 2000.
