This paper introduces a CBT model for understanding and treating Depersonalization Disorder.
A very helpful book in throwing more light on this surprisingly common set of symptoms/disorder.

Transient symptoms of depersonalization & derealization are common being reported by approximately 50% of the population. Sufferers from other psychological disorders (e.g. anxiety and depression) are more likely to have such symptoms. Using formal psychiatric interviews the current prevalence rate of clinically significant Depersonalization disorder seems to be about 1-2% of the general population.

Factor analysis of syptoms reported by a series of 138 consecutive Depersonalization Disorder sufferers yielded four symptom clusters which were labelled were labelled 'Anomalous Body Experience'; 'Emotional Numbing'; 'Anomalous Subjective Recall' and 'Alienation from Surroundings'.
