Pd(II) catalyzed enantioselective allylic etherification of allylic trichloroacetimidate with phenol to generate 3-aryloxy, 1-alkene is described. Regioselectivity is excellent with preference for branched product.

Oxidative annulation of indole and aryl allyl ether in the presence of Pd(II) and molecular oxygen as the stoichiometric oxidant results in the formation of annulated indole and benzofuran. The mechanism is believed to involve palladation of indole or arene, followed by olefin insertion and subsequent beta-hydride elimination instead of olefin activation followed by anti-nucleophilic attack (friedel-crafts) and beta-hydride elimination.
