Current smokers who are homozygous for the CFH Y402H polymorphism have a relative risk of 34.0 for late age-related macular degeneration as compared with nonsmokers who do not have this polymorphism. The risk is 7.6 for nonsmokers who are homozygous for the CFH Y402H polymorphism
