This prospective cohort study supports the hypothesis that pesticide exposure is a risk factor for PD. In models adjusted for age, sex, and smoking, the risk for PD was a significant 70% higher in people exposed to pesticides (risk ratio, 1.7). Neither pesticide type nor duration of exposure was studied. Collecting this information will be critical to understanding the PD-pesticide association.
