The paper presents the onto broker system to extract, reason and generate metadata in the WWW. The paper describes the formalisms and tools for formulating queries, defining ontologies, extracting metadata and generating metadata in rdf. Ontology elements as well as inference rules are defined in F-Logic and converted to Horn-clauses for practical reasoning. Inference outcomes are then converted in proper RDF statements. The paper proposes to embed semantic information into web pages by means of an extension of the HTML DTD which introduced the attribute "onto" that allows explicit insertion of f-logic metadata. As F-Logic constructs can sometimes be too verbose / clumsy, shorthands are defined which allow easy insertion of semantic data and also support direct capture of information from the fillers of usual html tags, thus achieving automatic synchronization of semantic data with published data.
