Earlier this month, Marvel Comics‘ big event of the year, Secret Invasion has finally started. In this new overarching storyline, the shapeshifting alien race known as the Skrull have been secretly posing as different characters in the Marvel universe, in their aim to claim Earth as their ‘rightful territory’. What’s fascinating is that according to the writer Brian Michael Bendis, there have been hints to this event going as far back as New Avengers , which explains some of the more mysterious goings on in New Avengers #1, where a mysterious figure hired Electro to free prisoners from the superhuman prison known as ‘The Raft’.
