In languages such as Italian, whose aspectual system is fairly rich, aspect has a variety of functions. One of these, which has been adressed from different points of view, is to determine suitable temporal relations between the eventualities described by a sentence or a sequence of sentences. But little attention has been paid, in formal semantics, to another important funcion of aspect, that is its role in determining the appropriate type of quantification over eventualities.
