A recently retired psychiatrist, I regard this as a major achievement, and much needed. I wonder, though, how many training programs will devote the time necessary for residents to make a dent in the material. Few programs teach history of psychiatry, fewer, philosophy. This works as a reference book, though it is set up as a teaching program, and familiarity with its structure, premises and goals is essential for getting the most out of it.
