The objectives of this paper is to analyses the structure of meta-theoretical of financial accounting that was used by FASB and IASC to develop the conceptual framework for financial accounting reporting. The discussion of conceptual framework conducted by comparison of the basic different between the FASB and IASC framework, then analyses the constraints to implement IFRS and identify the way out of the constraints faced by the body. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia : Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membahas struktur meta teori yang dipergunakan oleh FASB dan IASC dalam mengembangkan rerangka konseptual, menelaah perbedaan-perbedaan mendasar, menganalisis hambatan-hambatan yang dialami serta mengidentifikasi upaya-upaya yang harus dilakukan agar IFRS diterapkan oleh negara-negara anggota. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan cara membandingkan rerangka dasar yang diatur dalam FASB dan IASC dan kemudian menganalisa hambatan yang timbul dengan adanya penerapan IFRS dan mengidentifikasi bagaimana hambatan tersebut dapat diselesaikan. Economic globalization caused by the development of innformation and communication technology also is bringing about radical and rapid change. In addition to the company having to face greater numbers of competitors, each company is required to win their market and continually launch innovative products and services. The speed of technology is also increasing innovation with the result that the product cycle has changed, becoming much shorter. New innovations which are developed by the company to respond to consumer demands bring about radical and rapid change. The only sure thing is uncertainty. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia : Globalisasi ekonomi yang dipicu oleh teknologi informasi dan komunikasi juga menjadikan perubahan menjadi radikal, pesat dan cepat. Disamping perusahaan menghadapi jumlah pesaing yang lebih banyak, masing-masing perusahaan dituntut untuk memenangkan pasar dan terus menerus meluncurkan inovasi produk dan jasa. Kecepatan teknologi juga akan meningkatkan inovasi, akibatnya siklus produk berubah menjadi semakin pendek. Inovasi-inovasi baru yang dikembangkan perusahaan untuk merespon tuntutan konsumen, menghadirkan perubahan radikal, pesat dan cepat, akhirnya yang pasti adalah ketidakpastian itu sendiri. Urban planning on the global world; New York, London, and Tokyo as study cases, applied differently on planning approach than before globalization, that is parallel with urban development. Urban core is a central coordination of global economic activity that tends to decrease of urban population. Suburban grows as urban, that is follow the growth of manufacturing activity and service. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia : Globalisasi yang pada awalnya merupakan konsep kegiatan ekonomi yang global, juga berpengaruh pada pendekatan perencanaan kota. Perencanaan kota yang global; dengan studi kasus di New York, London, dan Tokyo; teraplikasikan pula dengan beda dibandingan sebelum globalisasi, seiring dengan pertumbuhan kota. Pusat kota menjadi pusat koordinasi kegiatan ekonomi global, dengan kecenderungan jumlah penduduk yang menurun. Disamping itu suburban akan berkembang menjadi urban ,mengikuti pertumbuhan kegiatan manufaktur dan jasa. Kata kunci: globalisasi, kota, suburban, ekonomi

Globalization has brought a great effect to human life either economically, politically, socially or culturally. The free market and the development of information and communication technology have made the job competition become strict. This effect has also influenced the education field especially for the design education. In facing the challenge of the 21st century, the design education should make some restructuring as anticipation. This paper will explain about the importance of the education that implants the global perspective view towards the student. Substantial and Perceptual dimension brings some challenge that force the educators to prepare more innovative and new approaches for their teaching method. The studio learning method that surely brings benefit to the student-centered learning will become the focus of the design education. Thus, besides stressing on the importance of the academic subject that can shape the student?s attitude and competency in facing the 21st century?s challenge, Petra Christian University also does some trials towards the problem-based learning and case-based learning system for its studio teaching and learning process.
