This needs attention -- a very credible project suggests the possibility of a major advance in treating cancer, using a currently approved, inexpensive drug. It has worked in animals but not yet been tested in people for the proposed use. The University of Alberta is raising funds for human trials, since pharmaceutical companies are unlike to be interested in a drug that is not effectively patentable.

A drug long used to treat hereditary mitochondrial disease may be useful in cancer treatment as well.
