Getting started with Connotea

We recommend setting up your browser for one-click access to Connotea.

  • This will take one minute
  • It will add a button to your toolbar as shown in the image below
  • Using this button you will be able to save a reference to Connotea with one click

Setting up your browser for one-click use of Connotea

If not, keep reading and we'll guide you through the general process of creating the 'Add to Connotea' button.

  1. Step 1 of 2: Checking to see if your Bookmarks toolbar is enabled

    1. Check to see if your browser has a Bookmarks toolbar. For example, the Boookmarks toolbar in Firefox looks like the image below.

    2. If your browser isn't showing a Bookmarks toolbar, you can normally enable it from your browser's menus or preferences. Once you have a Bookmarks toolbar, you can create the 'Add to Connotea' button on it.

  2. Step 2 of 2: Creating the 'Add to Connotea' button

    1. Now you can create the 'Add to Connotea' button on your Bookmarks bar. To do this, you should be able to simply drag the button below to your Bookmarks toolbar.

    2. For example, here's what dragging the button to the toolbar looks like in Safari.

    3. Alternatively, you can right-click on the button above and ask the browser to bookmark the link. Make sure you save it to the Bookmarks toolbar folder, as this will make the 'Add to Connotea' button appear on the toolbar.

You're done

The top of your browser window should now look something like this, with the 'Add to Connotea' button on the Bookmarks bar. One-click access to Connotea has now been set up.

What next?

Your browser is now set up to use Connotea. Whenever you find a reference on the Web that you want to save to your library on Connotea, you just need to click on this button. You will be able to add keywords and a description before saving it.
